Happy New Year! Part Two

Happy New Year!

So, have you got your New Year resolution? Great! Let's talk about keeping it alive.

KEEP REACHING TOWARD YOUR GOALSThink about it. Look at your goal as a project. We all worked on projects at some point in our lives. And as you are aware, from time to time projects need adjustments. Perhaps your original process is not as efficient and you have discovered a better way to go forward. Perhaps your original goal is not an actual possibility but it is more realistic if you make an adjustment. Perhaps your time line is just a little too short now, so you make another adjustment. You get the point. You do not give up, you know that this project has to be completed no matter what.

Another important part of success is support. Majority of projects require a team. So, if you are having tough time pushing it forward on your own, ask for help. Share your goal with someone close to you (supporting family member, close friend). This person can be a force that keeps you on track when everything else fails. Trust me, it works!

Now, have you had a thought of giving up on it somewhere in the middle? Have you ever thought that it will actually be possible to complete? I am sure you did. But it had to be done for whatever reason (hey, you get a promotion thanks to the project). You made a commitment and it worked! After few struggles and adjustments your project is an undisputed success!

Resolutions That Work: How to make & keep new years resolutionsWell, ok. How can all that you just read help you to keep your New Year's resolution. Very simple, make a commitment, make adjustments, make the goal achievable. Do not give up! Things happen, life gets in the way. But that only means that you are living! That's great news! And your resolution is just part of that life. You have to have goals in you life. But I'll save it for another post.

Here are few tips for keeping up with your resolution:

1. Right it down! Very important! It will be a contract with yourself. This is a commitment!
2. Stay on track. Remind yourself about your goal everyday. Remember, you wrote it down. So, why don't you carry it with you as a reminder.
3. Do not be afraid to make adjustments to the process, time frame or even goal itself. But remember to keep the main point of your goal. Also, do not make it too easy for yourself.
4. If you are having tough time doing it on your own have a support of someone close to you.
5. Do not give up! So what if it takes a little longer. The most important part is to make your goal come to life! Just think how good you are going to feel when you've accomplished what you've planned!
6. Congratulate yourself! Have a little celebration (or big one, whatever works for you)! You deserve it!

Hope this is helpful. I know it always works for me. But you really need a commitment. So, your resolution has to be something that you know you want to happen in your life. If you do not feel comfortable with my tips, Goals On Track program will be very useful for you.

I'd love to hear from you if you have any tips of your own that you'd like to share. Please make a comment.

In the mean time, Good Luck!

Happy New Year and remember,

Be Active! Be Involved! Be a Current Woman!
