Happy New Year!
Hope you had a wonderful holiday season so far. I know my native country just starting to get ready for one of the most important celebrations, Christmas. Yes, Russian Orthodox Church and actually all of the Orthodox followers around the world celebrate Christmas on January 7th. I have to say, I've missed those days when I got to celebrate two Christmases. Two weeks of pure joy, but it is tiring!
One holiday that is celebrated by everyone equally is a New Year. Yes, I am aware that in different cultures New Year does not arrive on January 1st (for example, Russia celebrates Old New Year on January 13th and Persians celebrate arrival of the New Year in mid-March). But since the world lives under the same calendar now, we all count January 1st as a start of the New Year.
What does this mean to you? To many people it means a new beginning. Most of us make New Year resolutions such as losing more weight, eat more healthy, go to the gym more regularly, spend less, read more, etc, etc, etc. People feel extremely driven at the beginning of New Year. They are full of enthusiasm and confidence. There is no way of stopping them. And then something happens, by mid-February - early March people do not feel as confident or enthusiastic. They feel tired and overextended. What happens?
Well, I have a theory. New year, first day of the New Year, first hour of the New Year is just like birth. You feel new and full of potential with all the time in the world. You set your goals and deadlines. Days go by and you are still enthusiastic. You are progressing just fine. But then, something happens. I call it "life got in a way". This something interrupts your routine and your progress. You are off your schedule and fall behind on your goal achievement. That makes you upset, you are trying to catch up and working harder and harder. But that only makes you more tired and unhappy. Eventually you give up . Sounds familiar? Yes, I have been there. And I did not fail to fail. It's sad to admit but that's the case for many of us. Is there a fix? Absolutely! And I'll tell you all about it in the New Year.
So, please come back on January 1st, 2011 and I'll give you the details.
In the mean time, have a fantastic day and remember,
Be Active! Be Involved! Be a Current Woman!
